The Gate Hotel is another hotel with a famous view on one of Tokyo's landmarks, the Tokyo Skytree (if this sounds too touristic - actually it's a must visit). The hotel is located in the 'cultural' Asakusa area with the popular Sensoji temple and Philippe Starck's 'golden flame' Asahi building just a short stroll away. The hotel fuses traditional and contemporary and the rooms are stylish with subdued dark colours (but also feel a bit spartan). The staff is very welcoming. The bar/restaurant on the 13th floor, serving reasonable priced good food and drinks and boosts an outdoor terrace (with good views of course), has long been a secret spot loved by Tokyoites.
