The main reason to come to this youth hostel is for its architecture by Buchner & Bründler. Rooms are spartan, but you’ll feel so well in a balanced ‘zen’ environment. It’s situated in the St. Alban quarter, which is a must see on it’s own, next to the Rhein river. Basel is expensive but if you want to splurge you can go to hip Noohn, bar - resto - roof terrace. It’s also well located to visit the Vitra museum in Weil am Rhein, just across the border, the mecca of design with outstanding architectural buildings from Herzog & De Meuron, Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry, Tadao Ando etc...
